ZTE to introduce 5 smartphones in Rs 6K-Rs 15K range in India, challenge Micromax

    This is going to widen choice for smartphone lovers in India. ZTE is set to introduce 5 smartphones in Rs 6K-Rs 15K range in India. It will challenge Micromax and other Indian cell phone vendors in India

    Chinese technology behemoth and smart phone manufacturer is all set to test the waters in the Indian smartphone and tablet market. ZTE is among the biggest smart-phone player in China, world’s biggest handset market. The company has been launching great handsets across the world and its handsets are being well received in many markets including in US, Europe and Middle East.

    Two Chinese technology companies have gone on to have major presence in smartphone markets across the world. Huawei and ZTE both have launched great handsets that directly compete with international brands in not just specifications, but also in design and build quality. ZTE has introduced many handsets with top of the line features and specifications. This include besides many others like ZTE Geek, ZTE Grand S, ZTE Grand, ZTE Grand Memo, ZTE Nubia Z5 besides many other tabs and smartphones.

    Now the company is finally coming to India following the footsteps of another Chinese smartphone maker Oppo. Oppo is all set to launch its well received Oppo Find 5 in the country.

    The company has said that it will introduce its products in the country in just five states and will start expanding in October. The company is slated to introduce five smartphones in price range of Rs 5,799 to Rs 14,999. Though the company has been selling handsets in the country through some telecom operators but so far these handsets were just feature phones and it is the first time that the company will be bringing its mid-range handsets to the country. ZTE has partnered with Calyx Telecommunications, a Pune based company for distribution, sales and service of its products.

    ZTE India CEO Xu Dejun while talking to the media said, “Backed by our strong portfolio and R&D capabilities supported by Calyx Telecommunications strong financing background and distribution channels, we expect to emerge as a key player in the Indian smartphone arena. Globally, ZTE is the 4th largest handset manufacturer and we are certain to strengthen our position in India, which is a key growth propeller for us, contributing to 10% of our overall revenues”. The launch will give some more choice to the Indian smartphone lovers but may challenge Micromax and other Indian smartphone vendors at their own game.
