YU to launch Lollipop-powered ‘Project Caesar’ smartphone, attacks Xiaomi
Micromax is mocking at Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi and its handsets. India’s largest smartphone maker and over all the number two vendor in the market has said that successor of its Yu Yureka phone will come with Android Lollipop out of the box. The company has named it as ‘Project Caesar’.
Yu Televentures, a subsidiary of Micromax is being projected as the main rival of Xiaomi in India. Its handsets are also being sold in flash sales on Amazon.in and both Micromax and Amazon claim that its handsets are sold within seconds.
Now Micromax seems to be poking fun at Xiaomi’s Mi range of devices through teasers on social networking sites. It says that its handsets running on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box are actually dated. The Facebook post reads “KitKat in the age of Lollipop? Give Me a break!” In another teaser shared by the company on Facebook, it was said, “Lollipop comes pre-loaded with Project Caesar! Why would YU buy anything else?”
It is needless to say that the current version of Yu Yureka is very impressive for its price. The 5.5-incher smartphone, it is powered by the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 system on chip which houses an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and the Adreno 405 GPU clocked at 550MHz. It comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage of which 12.8GB is available to the user and it is expandable through microSD card. A dual SIM phone it supports Cat4 4G LTE with TDD 2300MHz and FDD 1800MHz bands supported for India. The handset runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS with the CyanogenMod CM11S ROM atop it.
