It is going to be very exciting time for smart-phone users. Xolo X500, Acer Liquid C1, Safaricom Yolo Intel smartphones with great specs and features have hit the market

Acer and Intel have joined hands together to launch an Intel Atom Z2420-based Android handset. Dubbed the Acer Liquid C1, the device is an ICS powered midrange phone with appealing specs. The major selling point of the device will be its brand new Intel mobile chipset. The chipmaker giant launched the new Atom Z2420 chip at CES 2013 last month. Here is a sneak peek into the specs of Acer Liquid C1 and other possible Intel-based handsets in near future.

Acer Liquid C1 Specs
The Acer handset comes with a 4.3-inch IPS display of qHD resolution at 960 x 540 pixels. The Intel chip, codenamed Lexington, features a main x86 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz. It is a shortcoming that the CPU is a single core one, but it is known for its Hyper-Threading. The device sports an 8MP rear camera that can shoot video at 1080p. Thanks to the nice performance of the Intel chipset, the Liquid C1 is able to capture five still images in a second.

The Liquid C1, unfortunately, lacks a fresh Android version. It comes with the old ICS preinstalled. It is not clear when in future the device will get the new Android versions. It has 4GB of internal memory with microSD slot for expanding storage up to 32GB. For nice power backup, it has Li-Ion 2000mAh battery. Initially, the phone will be released in Thailand this February for a price around 9,990 baht, i.e. $335. It will later come to the Southeast Asia.

The Liquid C1 is actually Intel’s ninth handset in the last nine months. This device represents how the Intel mobile chips are getting momentum in the Qualcomm and Nvidia-dominated mobile market. “We’ve made a conscious effort to go after these fast-growing markets as our first foray into the business,” says Mike Bell, Intel’s head of mobile division.

Safaricom Yolo: Kenya’s Safaricom has announced the first Intel-based smartphone in Africa. Called the Yolo, the handset is specially designed for faster web browsing, amazing multimedia capabilities and better support for Android apps, says Safaricom. The device will be sold in Kenya for an affordable price.

It is powered by an Intel 1.2GHz Atom Z2420 processor with the Hyper-Threading Technology. When it comes to display, it touts a 5MP rear camera that can take video at 1080p HD. It has a 3.5-inch touchscreen display with good clarity. Further, the phone is up with FM radio, microSD for expanding memory, HSPA+ modem support and, above all, it has a compact design. The device will come preinstalled with McAfee mobile security tool for increased protection against viruses and malware.

Xolo X500: Xolo is one of the first tech makers to produce an Intel based smartphone. The company has now rolled out a new device called the Xolo X500, which is a dual SIM phone. Indeed, it is the first dual SIM phone with an Intel chipset. It is to feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Intel’s new 1.2 GHz Atom Lexington Z2420 processor.

The handset is up with a 3.5 inch TFT display that packs a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels. For further power, it packs a 512MB of RAM 400MHz graphical processor that helps the device’s 1080p FullHD video recording and playback capabilities. As for connectivity, the handset shows off Quad-band HSPA+ and HSPA+ 21Mbps.

The Xolo phone has a 5MP rear camera. It can capture seven stills in a second. For decent power backup, Xolo has used a powerful 1500mAh battery onboard. For data storage, you have 4GB of internal memory and it can be further expanded up to 32GB thanks to a microSD slot. In India, the handset is expected for release with a price tag of Rs 8,999.
