Xiaomi Redmi 2 vs Moto E 2nd gen: Redmi 2 seems to be obvious winner
Both are new generation devices of their last year versions and both are going to attract millions of people towards them in the coming months. It is needless to say that both the devices that arrive from big smartphone companies are going to fight it out in the days to come.
There is no denying the fact that both the handsets come with considerable improvement over their previous versions, but the improvements are certainly not game changing. Motorola has already launched Moto E’s new version in the Indian market while Xiaomi is still keeping its fans on tenterhook as the handset is yet to be launched on Flipkart, its retailing partner in the Indian market.
And even when it is launched, its fans will feel disappointed by the way its flash sale works. For weeks many will not be able to get hold of it. On the other hand Motorola’s Moto E is available on Flipkart and it never really runs out of stock.
When it comes to design, look and feel of the two handsets, Redmi 2 seems to be far more refined than its older version. Its new version the flash at the back has been repositioned, the micro USB connector at the bottom has been shifted to the right. There is no denying the fact that it looks good and comes with good grip as well.
In the meantime Moto E’s new gen handset looks and feels very different from its previous avatar. It is needless to say that the company has given a new look altogether to it and Moto E with its swappable band design also adds to the phone’s ergonomics and allows a bit of customisation.
When it comes to display, Xiaomi’s Redmi 2 seems to be the winner, though the difference doesn’t seem to be so great. Compared to the new version of 4.5-inch Moto E comes with screen resolution of 960×540 pixels, the Redmi 2 comes with 4.7-inch 1280×720 pixels display packs. Redmi 2 seems to be truly scratch resistant.
Cameras have become very important as far as smartphones are concerned. Xiaomi has, without doubt, put a great camera inside Redmi 2. Both its front and rear cameras are good. Redmi 2’s rear camera captures accurate colours and without doubt it is infinitely better than Moto E’s rear camera. Besides the Redmi 2’s camera app offers far more options to customise settings than the Moto E. Moto E has 5 MP rear camera while Xiaomi Redmi 2 comes with 8MP rear snapper.
Both the handsets come with similar storage. While Redmi 2 has 8GB internal storage, only 4.5GB is available to a user. On the other hand Moto E’s 8GB internal memory offers around 5GB of user accessible storage. Both come with expandable memory option with 32GB using a microSD card.
