Xiaomi Redmi 2 India Launch on Thursday in India at Rs6999
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is all set to introduce its next generation entry level handset Redmi 2 in the Indian market later this month. Though the company hasnâ€™t announced the exact launch date, Flipkart is preparing to face another onslaught from enthusiastic shoppers who will do everything to lay their hands at this enticing and very affordable smartphone
Xiaomi, the third biggest smartphone vendor in the world after Samsung and Apple has seen its stock rise in the Indian market like no other company. Its handsets have been runaway success stories and the enthusiasm that it has got in the market is simply has no precedent.
The handset showed Indian smartphone lovers that what their hard earned Rs 6000 can get. Earlier the handset that the users were got for this price looked obsolete with just 3-5 mega pixel camera, bad display quality and poor processor. But Xiaomiâ€™s Redmi 1 changed everything instantly. This is the reason that the demand for it hasnâ€™t come down since then.
The handset comes with some improvements. Its few upgrades include 4G-capability, 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor etc.
Its front facing camera got a bit improved from 1.6MP in Redmi 1S to 2MP in Redmi 2the new version is coming out with slightly better 2,200mAh battery compared to its predecessor. Besides the new handset also supports QuickCharge 1.0 technology for faster battery charging.
When it comes to operating system the new handset comes with Android 4.4-based MIUI 6.0 software with Redmi 2. The handset comes with 5-inch HD screen with DragonTrail glass, 8GB internal storage, up to 32GB microSD card support, 1GB RAM and connectivity options.
