Xiaomi Mi 4i likely to launch at ‘Global Mi phone premiere’ in New Delhi
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi wants to show to the world that Indian market is important for it. After flooding the country with its good and affordable handsets, the company is working out to become top player here. And this is the reason that it has gone to the extent of planning the launch of a new smartphone from New Delhi.
The company will be flying almost its entire top management for the launch of a new handset planned for April 23. Invites have already been sent to the media and others and there is a sort of mystery surrounding the forthcoming launch of the new smartphone from the third largest vendor of smartphone in the world.
The launch that is being called ‘Global Mi phone premiere’ is going to be held in the Indian capital New Delhi on April 23 will be something that Delhi hasn’t experienced before. No other smartphone maker from abroad has showcased its product here the way Xiaomi is doing. In the meantime it has released a tweet with the teaser image of the invite as well. The tweet redirects to Xiaomi’s homepage which only says ‘i IS COMING’ and has a button to register for the event too. The upcoming global premier of Xiaomi will see CEO & Founder Lei Jun, President & Co-Founder Bin Lin and VP Xiaomi Global Hugo Barra as well.
But there are reports that suggest that the handset is actually Xiaomi Mi 4i. The device was sported on Singapore’s Infocomm Development authority (IDA) database and also on benchmarking website GeekBench.
The new handset is expected to come with a 1.65GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor paired with 2GB RAM and will run on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out-of-the-box. These specs closely resemble the unannounced Xiaomi device, dubbed ‘Ferrari’ that appeared in a benchmark listing last month.
