Workshop held on “Macromolecular Structure, Function, Interaction and Prediction”.
ALIGARH: The Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit (IBU), Aligarh Muslim University organized a two-day National Symposium cum Bioinformatics Workshop on “Macromolecular Structure, Function, Interaction and Prediction”.
Prof Y. D. Sharma, a distinguished Biotechnology Researcher and Professor, AIIMS, New Delhi delivered the keynote address and provides an insight on novel targets for Plasmodium vivax, imperative in the present scenario for newer drug discovery and mention its importance to combat malaria.
Prof. Rizwan Hasan Khan, Coordinator, IBU and Convener of the Symposium welcomed the guests and appreciated the efforts of the entire unit for this event. He also mentioned the programme and highlighted the growth of the Department in the last few years. He informed that the department had received a grade A from the DBT for its academic performance. He also mention about the support from the present administration and his colleagues Prof.(s) Asad U Khan and M. Owais.
In the presidential remarks, Prof S. Alim Hussain Naqvi, Coordinator, Centre for Nano-materials, said that in the last decade tremendous developments have taken place in the field of technology. He said that this science is only useful for human beings when translated from labs to general people. He further added that Nanotechnology in association with Biotechnology can do wonders for mankind and other life forms on Earth.
Dr. Shahper Nazeer Khan proposed the vote of thanks and Dr. Hina Yonus conducted the program.
