There are reports that as many as one billion people will be watching Women’s World Cup 2015 tournament. This is a huge number and shows the increasing importance of women in the soccer field as well.

Earlier Women’s World Cups used to be played almost in near obscurity. But things have changed in recent years. Now men and women who prefer to watch men’s soccer games have started finding the Women’s World Cup fascinating too. This is notwithstanding the fact that not many people are actually aware of top female soccer players. Despite the fact that women football tournaments have become common in recent years, very few people are aware of top female soccer stars.

Hopefully things will change in the coming years. The Women’s World Cup, starts today in Canada. One of the top teams in the tournament that features 24 teams in all is the United States. US team is the main contender to win the tourney. The United States, World Cup champions in 1991 and 1999 are hoping that they will be able to add third title to its trophy case.
