Aligarh: The Training and Placement Cell, Aligarh Muslim University Women’s Polytechnic in collaboration with M/s. Usha International Ltd recently organized a three-day workshop on ‘State of the Art Usha Machines’ to provide hands on training to the Bachelors in Vocational Studies (FDGT), Diploma in CDGT students and staff members. Over 150 students and faculty members attended the workshop.

Addressing the inaugural session of the workshop, Dr Salma Shaheen, Principal University Women’s Polytechnic said that students, who have acquired trainings during their courses in various streams are more employable than their peers without trainings.

“Employers are ready to give jobs and responsibilities to students, who have undergone trainings as they require lesser training after joining their jobs,” she added.

For securing good jobs, Dr Shaheen urged students to be good with soft skills of communication and language proficiency and with necessary skills such as interpersonal skills, computer proficiency and teamwork in addition to the specialized skills of their field.

While welcoming the M/s. Usha International Private Ltd team to the University Women’s Polytechnic, Mr Jahangir Alam, Associate Professor and Training and Placement Officer (TPO), University Women’s Polytechnic appreciated the efforts of Mr Iqbal, Promoter, M/s. Usha International Ltd and Aligarh Zone for extending all logistic support to make the workshop a grand success.

He categorically praised Usha Technical Team members – Mr Amit Chopra, Mr Anil Kumar, Mr Prabhat Dixit, Mr Prem Singh and Mr Nishant Sharma, who arrived in Aligarh from Ghaziabad to train the students.

Mr Tariq Ahmed, Assistant Professor and coordinator, Training and Placement Coordinator (TPC) conducted the programme and proposed vote of thanks.

He specifically thanked Dr Abdus Samad, Associate Professor and Coordinator, BVoc (FDGT) course for providing constructive support to make the workshop a grand success.

Mr Ahmed also informed that the last session of the workshop will be exclusively devoted to the faculty members of University Women’s Polytechnic wherein they will get a chance to acquire valuable experience on state-of-art equipments.
