Wisconsin Badgers vs Arizona Wildcats: Sam Dekker sends Wisconsin to final four
Every day there is new hero and people rush to celebrate his success as if there is going to be no new hero tomorrow, or there was no hero yesterday. But this is life and thankfully life celebrates every new thing and every development as magnanimously as the last or even better than the last.
Two days ago the whole world was talking about a different hero. But now we are here to celebrate the success of another hero who ensured that his team reaches the next stage.
Sam Dekker turned has hit a powerful slap on the face of his detractors’ face who were trying to undermine his importance in the team. But as he hit 5 of Wisconsin’s 10 3-pointers in the second half on his way to a second straight career high of 27 points, he ensured that his detractors bite dust. The other good performers included, Frank Kaminsky who added 29 points and the top-seeded Badgers beat No. 2 Arizona 85-78 on Saturday to reach consecutive Final Fours for the first time in school history.
But the match was not easy and their opponents namely the Wildcats twice got within five points in the last 2 1/2 minutes. Nonetheless on both the occasions Dekker connected on arcing 3-pointers, narrowly beating the shot clock on the first one.
While showering wholesome praise on him Arizona guard T.J. McConnell said “’Sam Dekker pretty much just crushed our dreams with that shotâ€. Others too were equally excited. “’Incredible game,” tweeted Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers from his seat behind the Badgers’ bench, calling Dekker ”cold blooded.”
And an excited Dekker said, “’That loss left a sour taste in our mouth, so we wanted to get back…As a team we set some goals of what we wanted to do, and now we’re two games away from our last goalâ€.
