Windows 10 Mobile update release indefinitely delayed for older Microsoft Lumia devices: Update

Redmond: Microsoft Window 10 Mobile’s release date has been further pushed back probably by weeks. Earlier there were reports that the Redmond based tech giant will launch the OS update in February after being delayed earlier.

Nonetheless longer delay seems to be in store for Window Lumia phone owners who were expecting the update latest by February end.

Far longer delay is expected as reports suggest that the tech giant may delay the launch not just by a few weeks but a few months. There are reports of some issues that the Redmond based software giant is facing and insiders believe till these issues are not taken care of, Microsoft will not release the OS for older Lumia versions. After many rumoured reports of the software being seeded to a couple of devices, the list of OEMs that are reportedly testing the operating system has been leaked.

In the meantime in a report, AdDuplex, a cross-promotion network for Windows Store apps and games, has given out the list of OEMs that have Windows 10 Mobile handsets. A report by WMPowerUser says that devices in list include HP Elite X3, HP Falcon, Lava Win1, Xolo WinQ1000, Qualcomm MTP8996 and Qualcomm MTP8909.

Reports suggest that the tech giant may have revealed OEMs that will test Windows 10 Mobile handsets, but the software update to these devices are unlikely to release on time and it won’t come as a surprise if some get it by the end of the year. The fact is that Microsoft hasn’t rolled out the software to any of its devices so far, despite the Lumia 950, Lumia 950XL and Lumia 550 coming with the OS pre-installed. Microsoft Lumia Mexico has revealed Windows 10 Mobile update schedule for Lumia devices on its Facebook page. It has claimed that the company will start rolling out the software to some devices on February 29, but Microsoft is yet to make any official statement in this regard.

On the other hand it was reported that the software had been seeded to the Lumia 535 in Latin America and T-Mobile variant of Lumia 640 in Poland before another speculation started doing the rounds that the Lumia 535 in Egypt and Jordan has received it. Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 10 Mobile update will be rolled out to Lumia 430, Lumia 532, Lumia 535, Lumia 540, Lumia 640, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 735, Lumia 830 and Lumia 930 initially.
