Microsoft Windows 10 growth moderates: More than 200 million installations till now
Windows 10 has been a phenomenal success. There is no denying the fact that the new operating system from Microsoft has attracted lots of praise from users and critics alike. This is the reason that till now it had a great success in the market and has been installed on more than 200 million devices worldwide.
Windows’ previous version was totally different from it. This is the rationale that the praise seems to be all the more important for the Redmond based tech giant and millions and millions of its hardcore fans across the world.
Nonetheless if you thought that the penetration of the latest Windows 10 has beaten its previous version you may have to check your facts again. A report by the Net Applications said that Windows XP is now employed by about 11 percent of computers. Even though Microsoft has stopped releasing security patches for the operating system, while StatCounter put the comparable figure at 8.4 percent.
The latest report seems to be very impressive indeed. In the meantime Windows 10 is indeed making its way onto more devices, mainly thanks to the free upgrade offer, which has stirred a debate about the aggressiveness with which it is pushed to users. The 200 million installation of the Windows 10 is a great achievement. Nonetheless Microsoft is aiming a 1 billion installation of the operating system. Reports suggest that adoption rate of the newest windows version has, thus, touched almost 40 million new devices per month.
Nonetheless analysts believe that the trend of adoption is slowing down. The Windows 10 user share increase last month was slightly less than the month before, continuing a trend of slowing growth. Net Applications’ user share represented nearly 164 million Windows 10 PCs worldwide, assuming a total of 1.5 billion Windows systems in use.
