Who won Republican debate in Houston: CNN GOP polls results suggest things are not bright for Trump opponents
The last democratic debate was fiery, will be an understatement. It was all fire and accusations and nothing more. There are some analysts who believe that the real estate mogul, Donald Trump, who is the frontrunner to bag the nomination, was the sole target of the rest of presidential hopefuls.
While it may be incorrect to infer that, nonetheless what cannot be denied is the fact that two of his top opponents looked like attacking him on everything he uttered, and everything that he didn’t utter. Marco Rubio who has emerged as his opponent in-chief in recent weeks and Ted Cruz, both attacked him in their fiercest attack yet.
It must be kept in mind that Marco Rubio had actually started rehearsing the anti-Trump tirade a few days prior to the attack. In his first and fiercest attack against the real estate mogul, 45-year old Rubio had questioned his preparedness to lead the USA. He also questioned him for supporting Obamacare and his lack of comprehension of international issues including lack of enthusiasm for Israel.
Before the Super Tuesday, Donald Trump’s opponent tried to pin him down. If the polls are to be believed and the electoral maths remains unchanged, historians will note Rubio tried hard and battled gamely, but ultimately was unsuccessful. From the first moments of the debate here in Houston, he went after rival candidate Donald Trump. For the past few days, the Florida senator’s campaign had said they weren’t going to attack Trump. They were going to talk issues. They were going to talk policy.
There is no denying the fact that Senator Rubio is well aware of the fact that if he doesn’t take the war in his opponent’s camp he will end up a sore loser. He can dress up second place as a victory, but the reality is Trump has won the last three contests and he’s coming back for more.
And so he had to try to stop the businessman before he did any more damage to his dreams and aspirations. From using illegal immigrants to build his famous Trump Tower in New York, to his inability to add flesh to the bones of his plan to scrap what’s become known as Obamacare. At one point he even said if he hadn’t received millions in loans from his father “he’d be selling watches in Manhattan”, suggesting he was a conman who was not to be trusted.
