WhatsApp free voice calling released for Android users across India
WhatsApp has finally released the free voice calling feature in the Indian market. This has come after very long wait for the Indian fans of the mobile messaging app.
WhatsApp is expanding at fast and furious pace in the Indian market. The app has more than 100 million registered users here and the number if going up very fast. Now with the introduction of free voice call feature its growth is going to get faster in the days to come. The number of active users in the country is more than 70 million and this is around ten percent of all the active WhatsApp users across the globe.
After being tested in the Indian market through invite only route, WhatsApp’s voice calling feature is now available to all Android users in the country. iOS and Windows devices users will have to wait for some more time before it is launched on devices running on other operating systems.
The process isnâ€™t very complicated though many people may find it frustrating. You will have to download the latest version of WhatsApp for Android from here. The latest version on WhatsApp’s website is 2.12.7, but if you’re downloading from Google Play, ensure that your device has version 2.11.561. Older versions don’t support this feature for all users.
After installing the most updated version of the app, ask someone who has WhatsApp calling enabled to make a WhatsApp call to your number. Multiple users have reported that giving a missed call doesn’t work. You’ll have to receive the call and wait for a few seconds before disconnecting to activate WhatsApp voice calling. When the feature is enabled on your smartphone, you’ll see a new three-tab layout on WhatsApp, one each for Calls, Chats and Contacts.
