WhatsApp down on New Year’s Eve; Accepts that outage continues to haunt users
The New Year has arrived in great fashion and people across the globe celebrated the occasion as if there was no tomorrow. While it was understandable that the biggest social networking site suffered outages during the new year celebrations, but it is amazing that the issues continue to haunt many users of the social networking giant.
One of the most used app also accepted that it was facing some issues that had caused its outage on the New Year eve.
In the meantime the social media giant in a statement said, â€œWe appear to be having issues againâ€.
The company, in an earlier statement had said that the issues were taken care of and that no outages were being reported. WhatsApp, however, did not provide any details on what led to the outage, which began shortly after 4.30 p.m. UK time on New Yearâ€™s Eve. WhatsApp had said it was working to fully restore service, but the company hadnâ€™t revealed the reason of the outage. There is no word on how and when it started. Whatsapp, owned by Facebook has about 900 million global users.
WhatsApp is used by around a billion people across the world who send billions of messages on any given day. A report says that last year at roughly the same time, WhatsApp users sent out a total of 54 billion messages on New Yearâ€™s day.
