What time is Republican debate tonight: Did Donald Trump cancel GOP debate due to Megyn Kelly?

Many people are still trying to figure out why tonight’s Republican debate has been cancelled. The debate was set to be organized by Fox News and originally the remaining three Republican candidates were going to be part of the debate.

Nonetheless the Republican front runner Donald Trump said he will not attend the debate. He tried to reason later on that he was not aware of the scheduled GOP debate and he has other prior engagements for the day. He said that he has to attend AIPAC conference the same day.

This is not the first time that he refused to attend GOP debate on Fox News. Merely a few weeks ago too he didn’t turn up at the debate. He tried to create a niche by holding a different interview simultaneously, but failed as people still kept watching the GOP debate that had more than half a dozen contenders till them.donald trump vs marco rubio

The debate slated for March 21 was going to be very important in many ways. The final GOP debate was scheduled for March 21st in Salt Lake City, the first sans-Rubio showdown after a big March 15 primary battle. But when Donald Trump decided he wanted to sit it out Wednesday, Ohio Governor John Kasich dropped out as well, prompting debate host Fox News to cancel it entirely. Unless the GOP decides to book another debate, the March 21st debate that never was will be a disappointing punctuation to a debate series characterized by indiscriminate shouting and sexual innuendo.

Donald Trump is particularly angry with Fox News’ newscaster Megyn Kelly. Trump has been targeting Kelly ever since she decided to highlight Trump’s long history of insulting women. Kelly did this many moons ago while moderating the first Republican debate. “You’ve called women you don’t like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals,” she said.

She went on to add, “Your Twitter account has several disparaging comments about women’s looks. You once told a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice it would be a pretty picture to see her on her knees. Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?”

We know that Trump cannot be reasoned with. He went on to call her “bimbo” and infamously saying that Kelly asked that question because she was menstruating. “I just don’t respect her as a journalist…I have no respect for her, I don’t think she’s very good, I think she’s highly overrated. She gets out and she starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions, and you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes. Blood coming out of her wherever” he went on to add. Nonetheless I am not clear if it was due to Megyn Kelly that he decided not to attend the debate.
