This is going to be an exciting match for the cricket fans across the world. Sri Lanka and West Indies teams are going to face each other in an important match and people are expecting another round of fireworks from Chris Gayle and other West Indian team members.
While predictions tend to go haywire in cricket matches, nonetheless given the terrific form that the West Indies team finds itself at the moment, almost everyone is sure that it will win the match. But this is going to happen only if Chris Gayle plays another memorable inning the same way they played in their first match of this World Cup.
West Indies batting seems to be in great form, but Sri Lankan cricket team seems to be suffering from one crisis after another. They have been on the losing side in the last couple of months. They lost badly at the hands of almost every team in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2016, another T20 tournament and had a forgettable start against Pakistan in the warm up match.
There is no denying the fact that it’s going to be Chris Gayle who will be such a danger for the West Indies, and head coach Phil Simmons is not hiding that fact. He stated that he expects Gayle to bat in 15 of the 20 overs of every single match in the World Twenty20. While the West Indies have put themselves and Gayle out there, Sri Lanka has done everything they can to play well, but fly under the radar. Changes have forced them to play a different game, and they’re happy with being out of the spotlight, especially as the defending champions, per ESPN.
While talking about his team, Sri Lanka coach Graham Ford says they have in good form. “Very often when you have this kind of tournament, the defending champions have that burden of defending the title. The high expectations of media and fans does create extra pressure. In quite a nice kind of way, quite a lot of that is not present at the moment. With a younger group it’s quite nice not to have that pressure†said he.
