Watch Pakistan vs Bangladesh Cricket live stream: Afridi, Hafeez star in the T20 World Cup 2016 match
Is he the same Afridi who played in Asia Cup? While playing the first real match of the tournament against Bangladesh, the same Pakistani swashbuckler batsman seems to be in a completely different league.
He has faced just 18 balls and you cannot believe. He has already scored 49 runs. This is simply unbelievable.
He is playing like the same Afridi who played some two decades ago. Big hitter, without no fear of repercussion.
Someone recently said that Pakistani captain was never known for his style, he was a power hitter and he seems to have hit the form when it was needed most. Pakistani team has already scored 198 runs.
Though Afridi has been sent back to pavillion by Taskin Ahmad, his 49 runs off just 19 runs seem to have changed the course of the match.
Earlier Mohammad Hafeez contunued his excellent form. He scored a rapidfire 64 and was taken by Arafat Sunny. Pakistani team seems to be doing everything exceptional here.
“Definitely, we wanted to. The openers set the momentum and we continued with that,” says Hafeez, “Whatever the past was, we forgot that. We know we didn’t play well in the past couple of months. But this is a World t20 and everyone was charged up. The confidence came back after the warm-up. 201 on this pitch is a good total, but we still have to work hard. That’s what we wanted from Afridi. He took us to 200, we were happy with 180. Pressure will be on the batting side chasing 200. And we have a quality attack, we back ourselves to restrict them”
