Viber now has 40 million registered user in India, and still counting
Viber seems to be becoming very close to challenge the dominance of WhatsApp in the Indian market. The free chatting app is very popular here and the company believes that it is expending faster than any other mobile messaging and chatting app.
This must be a shock of sorts to WhatsApp that has seen a sort of massive growth in the Indian market. WhatsApp has as many as 70 million users in the country and its growth rate is astounding indeed.
In the meantime the free messaging and calling app Viber today announced that it has than 40 million registered users in India.
Nonetheless all of the registered users are not expected to be active and this means that their number is still lower. Viber commenced its operations in India in December 2013 with13 million users. Viber has over 516 million unique users in 193 countries.
To be true, Viber has taken lead over other market players in many aspects. Of late, Viber has added multiple features taking into account the requirements of the Indian users. One of the key releases last year was Viber Public Chats, a feature that allows users to discover, share and interact with conversations, communities and content on mobile. Meanwhile, WhatsApp revamped its Android application and also introduced free voice-calling to iOS. But many believe that WhatsApp free calling feature came far too late.
