USA beat Colombia: FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015, scores, highlights, who won the soccer game

The next match for the USA soccer team is going to be very difficult. It will not be US vs Colombia match where the team won the match despite making repeated blunders. It was just sheer luck that the Colombia goalkeeper, actually a stopgap goalkeeper, was red-carded so the US team got an easy opening.

In the meantime after finally beating Colombia 2-0, the US soccer team is going to meet China. The very important match that will be played in Ottawa, Canada is going to be tough as China is neither Colombia nor even Australia and has shown that it comes with a never say die attitude. The Chinese side will not allow the team US to win the match despite making so many mistakes that the team US made against Colombia.

In the match against China, the US soccer team will be playing without the services of starting midfielders Megan Rapinoe and Lauren Holiday, who received their second yellow cards of the tournament and must serve one-game suspensions. It will be see as to how the team fend off the threat from Chinese side with or without an effective attack.women soccer usa team

After winning the match an overjoyed Rapinoe said “It’s getting there…I thought there was a lot better things going on. We keep growing with each game and keep getting better. Of course, we still want to be flying at everybody and win 5-0, but these teams are good and we can’t just walk over these teams.”

In the meantime the USA vs Colombia game was more interesting than expectations. The credit for putting up a tough fight in the first half and the second half too must go to Colombia and its determination. The team US failed to score a single goal till Colombian goalkeeper, a University of Miami student filling in for a suspended starter, was red-carded moments after halftime. Had there been a regular goalkeeper you could have forgotten the goal(s). But thankfully, despite the missteps, the team won. The breakthrough came moments later when Alex Morgan scored her first goal of the tournament. Carli Lloyd then did what Wambach astonishingly could not — convert a kick in the 66th minute.
