US Open tennis 2015 results and highlights: Venus Williams playing like 20-something
Serena Williams has already won three Grand Slams this year and she is aiming to win the fourth to get the distinction of winning all the Grand Slams in a calendar year. There is no denying the fact that she is on a dream journey.
No player is far too threatening and dangerous for her and no one can upset her plans. Merely a few weeks ago we saw her winning almost every other match so easily and so effortlessly as if she was not being challenged by her opponents.
We know that it is not true and that every player wants to win every match. But her aura of invincibility has made her presence too big for her opponents that they are simply awed by her.
The same seems to be true. But will the real challenge in the US Open tennis 2015 will come from none other her sister Venus Williams? Many people seem to be wondering after seeing the impressive run of Venus Williams in the tournament thus far.
After seeing her impressive run thus far in the tournament many people have started taking closer look at her and her game now. She has been eclipsed by her younger sibling in the last several years. But she is a great tennis player in her own.
The way Venus Williams’ won the third round match rather so easily must have unnerved her little sister too. The 35-year old Venus beat Belinda Bencic, half her age 6-3, 6-4, leaving behind the 18-year-teary eyed. But we must keep in mind that the same Belinda Bencic actually beat Serena in the Rogers Cup semifinals merely a few weeks ago. So she is no novice and the fact that she was beaten by Venus so easily must have surprised many tennis fans.
After her defeat Bencic said, “She just played too fast for meâ€. Venus who has won seven Grand Slam titles thus far has also two US Open titles in her kitty. She won the tournament fifteen and fourteen years ago in the years 2000 and 2001.
Given her great games here almost everyone is saying that the ace tennis star has come into the tournament with a great plan. She too has confirmed it. “I didn’t really have a plan…Just fighting. Now I’m fighting with a plan. … At that point, it’s pretty fun because you don’t think so much. I went for everything. You mess up a lot, so that’s frustrating, too. But it’s all new…It’s a wonderful experience to have [had] that, but at the same time, now I feel like I have the tools to get the wins under my belt.â€
