US Consulate in Turkey’s Istanbul under attack, female assailant arrested
Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey seems to be under attack today. After a bomb blast in the periphery of the megapolis that injured around seven people including 5 police officers and two civilans, US consulate too came under fire.
Thankfully no one was hurt as two assailants fired shorts and engaged in firing with police present on the scene.
Turkish media reports claim that no one was hurt in the attack and the two assailants escaped after a gunfight with security personnel.
Latest reports claim that two attackers weilding automatic rifles opened fire at the US Consulate building in Istanbul and engaged in a gunfight with security personnel, according to local media reports. The incident came hours after a bomb attack at a police station in Istanbul injured 10 people, including seven police officers.
In the meantime a report attributed to the local Dogan news agency said no one was hurt in the attack on the consulate on Monday morning and the two assailants managed to escape. The reports said that one attacker was male and the other female, adding that the police was searching for the suspects.
There is no denying the fact that if the attack on US consulate was the handiwork of PKK, things are going to escalate to an all new level. Forget ceasefire now.
