Union Minister Harsh Vardhan Reveals New Promising Drugs for Malaria, Osteoporosis, Diabetes

Health sector in India seems to be in for a massive upgrade. Indian pharma sector is all set to come out with candidate drugs for many major ailments. This includes many life-threatening diseases inlcuding malaria, cancer, osteoporosis and diabetes.

The announcement was made by none other than Dr Harsh Vardhan, the Union Minister of Science and Technology. While talking to the media, Harsh Vardhan said that future development in the sector will make things all the more enticing.

He also asked scientists to plan serious research work and went on o add that the union minister is committed to improving healthcare seriously. Speaking to reporters here after a visit to the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), a wing of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), he remarked that Indian R&D efforts in government laboratories have a track record in making drugs for Kala Azar, Filaria, Leprosy and Tuberculosis available at affordable rates to the common man.Al-Shifa Hospital1

There is no denying the fact that the candidate drugs are currently undergoing clinical trials. He further announced that simultaneously, CSIR-CDRI is carrying out Investigational New Drug (IND) studies on lead molecules for fracture-healing, cancers, thrombosis, malaria and hyperglycemia.
