UGC HRD Centre organize various competitions on World Environment Day
ALIGARH: The UGC Human Resource Development Centre, Aligarh Muslim University organized various in-house competitions to mark the occasion of World Environment Day for the students of English Access Micro-Scholarship Programme 2014-16 in which the winners were rewarded with prizes based on their performances. Professor Emeritus at Department of English, AMU Professor Farhatullah Khan distributed the prizes to the winners.
The competitions were divided into three broad categories, the first one being â€˜Best out of Wasteâ€™ in which the students were asked to make some useful or decorative item out of waste material like newspaper, tissue, empty cans and jars, discarded card board boxes and explain the process and utility of the product. The second competition was that of â€˜Slogan writingâ€™ based on the theme of environment protection, biodiversity conservation, global warming, climate change, greenery, natural harmony forests and wildlife, sustainable development, energy crisis and carbon footprint, etc. whereas the third one being that of â€˜Speechâ€™ with the topic â€˜What I will for saving the planet Earthâ€™.
In â€˜Best out of Wasteâ€™ competition Asaba Khan, ABK Girls School, Ali Khusoroo Bin, City High School won the first and second prizes respectively whereas Syed Bilal Husain, City High School got the third prize. In â€˜Slogan Writingâ€™ Prashant Rajpoot, STS High School won the first prize whereas the second prize was shared by Farheen Malik, ABK Girls School and Zoya Iftikhar, Girls High School. The third prize was given to Sumit Tomar, STS High School. Muntaha Kamal, and Prashant Rajpoot, STS High School won the first and second prizes respectively whereas Madiha Rizvi, ABK Girls School got the third prize in the â€˜Speech Competitionâ€™.
