TWOD concludes Poster-Making Competition at Women’s College

Aligarh: To campaign against ‘Corruption in Education System’ and to spread awareness of ‘Women Empowerment,’ ‘The Wings of Desire’ (TWOD) an NGO run by Aligarh Muslim University students concluded a poster-making competition in AMU’s Women’s College premises.

Around 120 girls from different Universities and Colleges such as AMU, D S College, Tika Ram College and Manglayatan University participated in the competition, said the organizing Secretary of the event, Aashiya Javed.

Judges of the competition, Mr Mansoor Alam and Dr Talat Shakeel gave away prizes to Nida Afsha, Gulafshan and Aman Rihab for standing first, second and third respectively in the poster-making competition.

While stating that it was a very good initiative to bring girls of different colleges and universities together for the event, the Joint Organizing Secretary, Rummana Khanam confirmed that Dr Syed Ziaur Rehman; eminent education activist, Professor Zakia Athar; TWOD President Sameer Sherwani and students of Aligarh Muslim University’s various faculties including the Medicine Faculty were present in the event.

TWOD is involved in organizing events for social causes in the AMU campus round the year. On the New Year’s Eve, the NGO distributed blankets to the poor and needy. TWOD also organizes blood donation camps in AMU premises at regular intervals.
