ALIGARH: The concluding session of two-day Workshop on ERP (Educational Research Planning) Mission organized by Department of Computer Science, Aligarh Muslim University on issues related to the successful software development and implementation of ERP systems in educational institutions and its relevance for the society underlined the need for creating a web based open Source Educational Resource Planning Software Package to automate all functional aspects of a typical University or College.
Addressing the closing session of the workshop, Chief Guest, Dr. Gautam Bose, Deputy Director, NIC said that the ERP Mission project, which is sanctioned by National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology, MHRD, would definitely benefit the universities all over India and abroad besides uplifting the educational system.
The Convener and Principal investigator of the Workshop, Dr. Mohammad Ubaidullah Bokhari, Chairman, Department of Computer Science highlighted the need and role of the project and said that the workshop will be useful to the students who are interested in software development and engineering. He laid emphasis on two modules of the project LibMS (Library Management System) and EMS (Election Management System) which are being developed by a team of AMU students.
In discussion and feedback session participants appreciated the ERP modules presented in workshop and gave their valuable suggestion for further improvements.
More than a hundred faculties, officers and students from various distinguished universities like AMU, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorke, Jamia Millia Islamia, IGNOU, NIT Hamirpur, Dayalbagh Educational Institutional Agra, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Coimbatore, Shri mata Vaishno Devi University Jammu etc participated in the workshop and were provided with a practical knowledge of different functional modules of the ERP System including payroll, stores and purchase, library management, student records and registration, web content management, grant management, project management and lection Management System.
Dr. Gautam Bose gave away certificates to the participants.
At the end Prof. Nesar Ahmad, Department of Computer Engineering, the Co-convener of the workshop proposed a vote of thanks.
