Aligarh: “Read a lot in order to enhance your general knowledge as it plays a crucial role in the interview and Group discussions” said Brig S Ahmad Ali, Pro Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University. He was addressing the concluding function of the 20 days workshop on “How to face Group discussion and interview” organized by the Training and Placement office (General), AMU.

Brig Ali, while apprising the students about the basic details of how to face a job interview, emphasized on its Pros and Cons and actively answered the variety of Queries raised by the students regarding the theme. “We shall also train our students in aptitude building and CV writing in the days to come”, said the Pro vice chancellor.

Mr Saad Hameed, TPO (General), AMU informed that the objective of the workshop was to make the students aware about the compulsory and forbidden things while facing a Group discussion and personal interview. He said that the AMU students are technically and subject wise very strong, but they need some formal training before going for a recruitment process where Group Discussion and Personal Interview are an integral part.

Mr Hameed told that the workshop received an overwhelming response by the students even during the vacations with 150 students from diverse courses attending the workshop. He said that the pedagogy of the workshop was based on activity and practical. The students participated in live Group Discussions and one to one mock interview sessions, to ensure hands on learning on these two critical stages of the recruitment, said Mr Hameed.

He said that the job of the Training and Placement office (General) is not only directed towards providing placements, but also to provide proper guidance and counseling to the students in order to brighten their future job and career prospects.

Mr Ahmad Hasan, a participant of the workshop, said that workshops like these make us more confident and smart to face the challenges of the corporate world. The initiative of TPO is worth praising, as most of the students face the same problem, but they are left without any guidance and support, which affects their career goals and aspirations, said another participant Ms Tayyaba.

Mr Hameed, along with the participants of the workshop, thanked the University Administration for their continuous support and cooperation towards the placements and career building of the students of AMU.
