iPad 3, the new generation Apple tablet is sure to come with many new features. Its release is expected in March.
The latest buzz hints that a peek at the latest generation of iPads might be just a weeks ahead, and the original product would hit the shelves a month or so after that.
A Japanese blog named Macotakara tracks Apple news. It has just stated that with the aid of an Asian supplier along with a “source in United States†it has come to know that Apple is planning to hold a special event in “early February†to launch the next iPad in February.
The website also adds that the delay is because the Chinese factories would be busy celebrating the Chinese New Year which kicks off at the beginning of next week.
The news of Macotakara seems credible because it would not be a first for Apple to delay the launch of a product. Usually Apple leaves the time of a few weeks or a month between the introduction and actual supply of a new product in the market. The iPad 2 was unveiled at an event on March 2, 2011 and was released in the market on March 11. The original iPad saw a longer time duration between the unveiling and the launch, with the first event on January 27 followed by the launch later on April 3. Apple followed the same trend with the iPhones too.
As per this update, the iPad can be expected to hit the stores in March. Macotakara had, last year in October, suggested the same thing and stated then that Apple is aiming for a March release for the iPad 3. This is the second time it is backing its report.
The story of Macotakara is also backed by Bloomberg this time. Last week Bloomberg had aslo claimed that iPad 3 date would be sometime in March.
Macotakara further stated that the planned event, scheduled next Thursday, would be education themed and would be held in New York. The usual announcements would be related to the company’s iBookstore and iTunes U initiatives, but the iPad would be introduced as the ultimate surprise.
IPad 3 is also expected to feature iOS 5.1. The latest Apple OS is currently in developer testing. The “Asian supplier†source also corroborated the news by stating that Apple tends to hold Special Events in early February.
