The Biggest Loser Season 14 has begun with a bang with focus on kids. Here is short recap and video highlights

The Biggest Loser Season 14 has begun with a bang. Besides its obvious interest for millions of overweight Americans, this time it is attracting all the more attention from a segment that was actually not a focus of the show, kids.

During this season child obesity will be in focus and I am sure it will draw more eyeballs to it than its previous version thanks to the addition of one more segment of the population to it. With around 30 percent American population overweight and the number climbing fast, there is certainly no dearth of people really interested in watching it. But with kids in focus along with the grown up contestants, things are going to be all the more interesting for the whole family. Now from the kids to grandparents and mother and father in between will be arguing to get the best place to watch the show. And to be true, its online popularity will go up substantially as a lot more kids use internet these days.

Obesity has become such a big issue in the US that many reports suggest that the issue is taking an endemic proportion. In its detailed report, the Institute of Medicine says, that two-thirds of adults and one-third of children are overweight or obese. The report goes on to say that if obesity is allowed to spread further without imposing checks obesity’s effects on health, health care costs, and our productivity as a nation could become catastrophic.

Though in this season, kids are in focus, they will not be competing with either adults or even kids and the kids won’t be weighed publicly. When they are not competing there is also no question of elimination. To be true, they will take part in the show from the confines of their own homes to become inspiration for kids across the US. Meanwhile trainer Jillian Michaels is making a comeback to the show. She says that she knows that how the obese kids are bullied everywhere in their day to day lives and as an obese kid she knows it fully well the suffering of the children.

As the first show clearly demonstrated the kids are not expected to be around with the main competitors. Meanwhile reports suggest that the three trainers including of course Jillian Michaels will not be doing the traditional gym workouts. They are expected to train the kids through laughter-inducing obstacle courses, drills and games. They will be mixing fun and workouts to keep the kids focused and interested in losing weight.
