Technology news today: Windows 10 release date, free upgrade for Windows 7, Windows 8 and other details

Windows 10 release date is set for Tuesday and the whole world seems to be awaiting its launch with bated breath. The expectations are sky-high and the previews have made it all the more desirable by enumerating hundreds of new features that the new Windows version boasts of.

The best thing about the new Windows 10 is the fact that unlike the past version most people will not have to buy it at a huge price. The new version of Windows 10 will be absolutely free to most users and will be offered as free upgrade .

Nonetheless the new version will be made available as free upgrades to people who genuinely bought Windows 8 and Windows 7 and will not be available to those who went for pirated version. You will have to pay for getting genuine Windows 10 version if you are among the ones using pirated Windows versions.

There is no denying the fact that Microsoft is aiming to get the fastest adoption of the new operating system. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella told BBC, “Windows 10 is a huge milestone for us as a company, and quite frankly the industry.”

Satya Nadella while talking about the new version said, “I’m really excited about Cortana…I think of it as [being] as profound as perhaps the PC operating system…If you think about our history in technology, we’ve had concepts that have changed how people have interacted with their computing resources…One of them was a graphical user interface, the second was the browser and the web. I think of Cortana as the third platform.”

While talking about privacy concerns, he said, “One of the foundational pieces of making anything more personal is trust…We’re not trying to sell you advertising, we’re trying to in fact sell you software or devices so you as a user can trust it, that it’s working on your behalf…I as a consumer may want to sometimes trade off my data to get a free service, and that’s ok. But it’s the other users of that same data – that is where trust matters….I absolutely want Microsoft to be trustworthy. How consumers make choices between companies, I’ll leave it to them.”
