Sundar Pichai new CEO of sliced Google

Chennai born Sundar Pichai seems to have moved faster than anyone else as far as his rise in tech giant Google is concerned. The man who is behind the success of many of Google’s most notable successes including Android, Google Chrome and many other products has been named as the new chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the truncated search giant.

The man who many destined was for something bigger was rewarded for his loyalty with the company. There were rumors of him trying to leave the company and many Google rivals reportedly gave him huge offers, many of them even better than Google, but his kept his cool and stayed put with the search giant.

But the 43-year old Sunder Pichai will not be heading the Google that we knew thus far. The company has decided to restructure itself as the company co-founder Larry Page on August 11 announced the formation of a new umbrella firm Alphabet, of which Google will be a part.

Sundar_Pichai-googleLarry Page while talking about the restructuring said that they were forming a new parent company Alphabet, of which he will be the CEO and Google co-founder Sergey Brin will be its President. Google according to him has been “a bit slimmed down.”

While making the announcement in a blog post earlier today Larry Page said, “Our company is operating well today, but we think we can make it cleaner and more accountable. So we are creating a new company, called Alphabet. I am really excited to be running Alphabet as CEO with help from my capable partner, Sergey, as President”.

While announcing Sunder Pichai as the CEO or the slimmed down company he went on to add that the IITian will be a “key part” of the new structure that will “allow us to keep tremendous focus on the extraordinary opportunities we have inside Google.” “He has really stepped up since October of last year, when he took on product and engineering responsibility for our internet businesses.

He went on to add, “Sergey and I have been super excited about his progress and dedication to the company. And it is clear to us and our board that it is time for Sundar to be CEO of Google…I feel very fortunate to have someone as talented as he is to run the slightly slimmed down Google and this frees up time for me to continue to scale our aspirations. I have been spending quite a bit of time with Sundar, helping him and the company in any way I can, and I will of course continue to do that”.
