ISLAMABAD: At least three people were killed and eight others, including a lawmaker, wounded in a suicide bomb blast in the 8th police district of the Afghan capital Kabul on Sunday, officials said.

A spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry, Sediq Sediqqi confirmed that three people were killed and a parliamentarian from eastern Paktia province, Gul Pacha Mujedi was wounded in the bombing along with seven other people.

He further said, “The target of the attack was the lawmaker Mujedi, who was coming out of a meeting from an office when the bomber attacked him.” One of the dead was a kid, he added. Kabul police chief Abdul Rahman Rahimi said that Majidi received shrapnel injuries to his leg, but his condition was not life threatening.

Earlier on Wednesday, a suicide car bomber killed at least seven people and wounded 31 others in Kabul. The insurgents paced up their attacks as NATO/ISAF forces left Afghanistan after 13 years of war handing over the security control to local Afghan forces.
