Reports suggest that box office collection of Shootout at Wadala has crossed Rs 200 million mark in the first two days alone following the launch of the film

The nation seems entertainment starved. There are not many good movies coming to theatres and whatever are coming are being given good response. And to be true, people have got more than what they wanted in the form of “Shootout at Wadala” and have lapped at it with their full enthusiasm. This is the reason that the film has become a massive hit in the theatres across the country. To be true, the sort of enthusiasm the filmgoers showed looked almost impossible for a film that was bereft of a truly great star from the Hindi film industry. Nonetheless the lack of star power didn’t come in the way of massive success for Shootout at Wadala.

The film has got a good response from critics of all hues. But the best judge are none other than cinemagoers and truly they made the film completely memorable. In the first two days after the launch of the film in theaters, its box office collections were as much as Rs 20 crore. For an Aamir Khan or Salman Khan film this is thinkable, but for John Abraham film, not many could visualize this sort of success. But thankfully it has come and at the right time for John Abraham.

In the meantime filmmakers are thrilled at such massive success for the film. Sonu Sood is thrilled with the positive response to his crime thriller “Shootout at Wadala” from both the critics and the audiences alike and says the combination is something very tough to achieve. “I always say that it is not easy to get the audience’s whistles and the critics stars together. ‘Shootout at Wadala’ has got both and that is very encouraging that both the critics and the audiences have liked the film,” the 39-year-old said here at the Haji Ali dargah. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, “Shootout at Wadala” came out Friday. Sonu was accompanied by Tusshar Kapoor, who plays gangster Sheikh Munir in the film that revolves around the encounter of gangster Manya Surve, played by John Abraham.

To be true, people are simply loving the movie. The public here was addressing Tusshar by his screen name ‘Munir’ and Sonu, who plays Dawood in the film, believes it is a parameter of success. “People are liking the film. You saw they are calling him (Tusshar) Munir and when actors are called by character’s name that shows the impact of the film,” said Sonu, who had impressed as Chhedi Singh in “Dabangg”. “We are happy to be standing where we shot the first scene of the film. We had said that we would come here to thank the god if the film is a success and today we have,” added Tusshar. Experts believe that the collections will keep pace and go up in teh week ahead, making it the first real block buster of the year.
