Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge vs LG G Flex 2: Exceptional handsets, to fight for dominance
Both are great smartphones, both look out of this world and both come with impressive specifications. I am sure both are going to be well received almost everywhere in the world.
While the two handsets come with impressive specifications, they look different and have different feel. Despite running on almost similar Android operating system, the two have very different functioning and will have their own fan base who will go for the respective handsets.
But the handsets come with their own advantages. In some aspects Galaxy E6 Edge seems good while in some other aspects, it is LG G Flex that seems to be the winner.
But in one aspect, and many people will find it a sure advantage, Samsung Galaxy E6 Edge camera beats LG G Flex rather very easily. But then the beast from LG has many other advantages too. It must be noted that LGâ€™s Flex 2 has a true curved body, the Sammy flagship comes with a unique and rather very impressive edge display.
Design and feel
For smartphone mavens, both the handsets namely LG G Flex 2 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge are completely value for money and premier handsets that they would love to own. Both look very different from each other, Sammy baby comes with a slight edge while the G Flex 2 which has an exact replica in the form of its predecessor â€“ the G Flex.
But if you like a curvy handset, the G Flex 2 is obviously one of the curviest smartphones around. If you want ease of using the handset, its natural curves make it very easy to hold it. On the other hand Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a bit smaller and measures 5.1 inch touchscreen and thus it has a smaller profile. It is also lighter and weighs just 138 grams.
Processor and RAM
When it comes to processor Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes packed with an Exynos 7420 chipset that comprises of an octa-core processor with highest clock speed of 2.1 GHz and 3 GB RAM. It comes in 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB internal storage version. On the other hand LG G Flex 2 comes with octa-core Snapdragon 810 processing unit (quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and 2.0 GHz Cortex-A57) which runs with either 2 or 3 GB of RAM. You can add another 128 GB through a microSD card. Both run on Android Lollipop operating. While Sammy flagship comes with TouchWiz UI, in case of the LG it is Optimus.
There is no denying the fact that when it comes to battery LG seems to be an out and out winner as it has put in an impressive 3000 mAh battery while Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a 2550 mAh battery. Both the handsets come with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0.
When it comes to display quality, both are exceptional. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge comes with Quad HD resolution (1440 x 2560 pixels) Super AMOLED display as expected. It comes with 577 ppi. On the other hand the LG G Flex 2 comes with a 5.5 inch curved plastic OLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels, resulting in a pixel density of 403 ppi. Sammy baby seems to be completely unbeatable.
As far as camera is concerned, Samsung seems to be an out and out winner. Samsung Galaxy S6 comes with a 16 megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation, auto-focus, flash, geo-tagging, face detection, auto HDR, panorama, and video recording at 2160p at 30 fps, 1080p 60 fps, 720p 120 fps, and dual-video recording. The front of the Galaxy S6 has a 5 megapixel camera that can record videos at 1080p at 30 fps. On the other hand The LG G Flex 2 has a 13 megapixel primary camera with laser auto-focus, face detection, geo-tagging, panorama, HDR, optical image stabilisation, flash, and recording at 2160p at 30 fps, or 1080p at 60 fps. The front of the LG G Flex 2 has a 2.1 megapixel camera which can record videos at 1080p. LG camera is a disappointment for the price it costs.
Galaxy S6 Edge for 32 GB version price begins at â‚¬849 in UK, while the 64 GB version of the S6 Edge is listed as â‚¬949. LG G Flex 2 price begins at $504. Vodafone, meanwhile, is selling the curved phone for Â£19 with monthly plans starting at Â£39.50.
