Both come from the same company and both have their task cut out. Here we take a look at Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini vs Galaxy S3 Mini specs, features, release date of S4 Mini

While Samsung Galaxy S4 has been launched, its Mini is in the making and reports suggest that we can expect it within merely weeks’ time. But whenever it comes, the handset is set to attract a large number of fans who are not really happy with huge phablet like size of Galaxy S4. So despite being impeccable in every sense of the word, the huge size of the handset still is an issue with many of Sammy and Android fans. In such scenario even a toned down version of Galaxy S4 is going to be a good proposition for many such people. Though Galaxy S3 Mini wasn’t that huge hit, things may be better for Samsung’s next generation S4 Mini.

But if you want to think that Samsung would incorporate every good feature of Galaxy S4, you are mistaken. It would never like to create a low cost competitor of its perspective money minting machine. Galaxy S4 is going to be a cash cow for Sammy for the next one year or even more and Galaxy S4 Mini is going to be a small player of sort that may push cash register ringing further.

Here we are going to compare Galaxy S3 Mini with the next generation of the small but much endowed smart phone from Korean tech giant. Put it simply, the S4 Mini is the cheaper model of the firm’s current flagship, the Galaxy S4. But, we can also count it as the next upgrade to the Galaxy S3 Mini, the inexpensive model of the company’s last year flagship the Galaxy S3. It is nice to compare the Galaxy S4 Mini with the Galaxy S3 Mini here. But, you should remember that specs of the former device are only in rumors and they are not verified by Samsung.

As far as display is concerned, like the Galaxy S3 Mini, the S4 Mini is also to feature a smaller screen from its original model. As per rumors, the low-priced model of the Galaxy S4 is to mount a small 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 530 x 960 pixels. See, the S4 has a larger 4.99-inch display. When it comes to S3 Mini, the device has a 4-in display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels at 233-ppi. It also uses Super AMOLED panel.

When it comes to processor new Samsung phone is to draw power from a rather stronger dual core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. Of course, we can expect for a far better chip, graphical processor and internal memory onboard the device. Galaxy S3 Mini came to market last year packing a 1GHz dual core Cortex-A9 processor with NovaThor U8420 inside. It has a Mali-400 GPU, 1GB RAM and two internal memory variants; 8GB and 16GB. In addition, it has a microSD slot for expanding storage capacity. “It’s unclear what type of CPU the Galaxy S4 Mini will use once official. Although seeing that it’s (a) dual-core and (b) supports LTE means it’s most likely going to be a Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon chipset,” says Know Your Mobile.

Both the handset run on same operating system Android, but different firmwares. The most exciting thing with the Galaxy S3 was its pre-loaded software, the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Coming out late last year, the device featured the new Android version out of the box. The rumored S4 Mini will now be surfacing out with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the same OS that will run on the Galaxy S4 under the hood. Anyway, it might be one of the first midrange handsets in stores to get Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. And, it might be upgradable to the new and imminent Android 5 Key Lime Pie. Of course, with the S4 Mini, Samsung will be targeting a group of customers, who don’t have a huge amount to spend on buying a phone. While its original model would carry a price nearly $650 SIM free, the cheaper model would likely be available for grabs for something below $400. Indeed, as it is in the case of S3 Mini, the small version of the S4 will strive to get most of its customers from the budget conscious people of emerging markets. So things are looking very exciting for Sammy fans and they are going to have a gala time.
