Both come with top features and great specs. Samsung Galaxy S3 vs Sony Xperia Yuga comparison makes excellent reading

Sony Mobile’s upcoming flagship Android phone the Xperia Yuga or Xperia Z continues to create news. The handset is poised to become a huge rival to Samsung’s Galaxy S3. Sony is reportedly working on this machine with a goal to put it in fight against the Galaxy S series and Apple iPhone. Well, going by specs and features (all are rumored) the Xperia Z seems to be a brilliant handset. Sony is just about to expose this device at a tech trade show early this year. Here we put the Galaxy S3 to vie with Xperia Z in a specs showdown.

Software: The new Xperia phone is hoped to come out with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. This is the freshest version of the firmware that is up for regular handsets. The most recent Android 4.2 is now only available for Google’s Nexus devices. The Samsung flagship phone came to stores with Android 4.0 ICS under the hood. It was later upgraded to the new Android 4.1.2. Both may get Android 4.2 JB sometime in future.

Display: The Samsung phone touts a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED 720 x 1280 display. It has a screen resolution of 306-ppi. The display shows off light sensor, proximity sensor and scratch-resistant glass. The new Sony phone is all set to come out with a 5-inch 1080p FullHD display that offers a big pixel density of 441-ppi. The 5-inch form factor is an edge for the phone over its rivals. There is a growing fervor toward 5-inch phones, better to say phablets.

Processor, Power: Both the gadgets are to get powered by quad core processors. The new Xperia Yuga is said to roll out with a 1.5GHz Krait Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor, 2GB RAM and Adreno 320 graphical processor. It is when the recent Galaxy S phone has hit stores with a 1.4GHz Cortex-A9 processor, which mounts Samsung’s much-loved Exynos 4 (4412) Quad chipset, 1GB of RAM and ARM Mali-400/MP4 graphical card.

Camera: Camera is an important part of a smartphone. The Sony phone is expected to mount a heavy camera different from the Samsung phone. It might be a 12.1MP sensor with cutting edge features like autofocus, back-illuminated sensor, geo-tagging panorama, effects and more. The Galaxy S3 has come up with an 8MP rear camera with F2.6 aperture, LED flash and more. It has a 1.9MP front camera for video chatting.

Storage: The Samsung flagship phone is available in three major memory capacities. They are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. Plus, it sports a microSD slot for expanding storage. There is no mention about the internal memory of the Sony phone. But, it is hoped to offer better options, indeed. It may also have microSD slot for expansion with external memory sticks.

Connectivity: The Galaxy S3 is a 4G LTE handset. It also enjoys all major connectivity options that include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and USB port. The new Sony Xperia phone may also have the same potentials when it comes to connectivity features.

Price, Availability: The Samsung Galaxy S phone is available from all key carriers in the world’s top markets. The U.S. and U.K. markets have been getting large number of customers for the device. It is early to say about the price and availability of Xperia Z. Sony is about to roll out the phone at the Consumer Electronics Show 2013. The device will be up for grabs soon after the official release. It may certainly carry an affordable price that will raise stiff challenge to the Galaxy S3. But, as we can learn from rumors, Samsung is working on its next generation Galaxy S IV with more advanced features for early this year.
