Six gadgets including Sony Xperia Z, AT&T Sony Xperia TL, Google Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy S3, ASUS Transformer Pad 300 Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update is slated to come shortly

At last, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean has premiered on a non-Nexus device. As expected, Samsung’s new-gen Galaxy S4 is the first device to turn out with the most recent version of Android out of the box. Until now, it has been only seen on Google’s own brand of hardware, the Nexus. Thus, devices such as Nexus 4, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and Galaxy Nexus run this version. It has many exhilarating features including the facility to help users set multiple user profiles as in a Windows PC. Plus, it has advanced Google Now and some notable design changes.

Following the Galaxy S4, it is heard that many more fresh devices are to advance with the 4.2 version. Further, several existing phones and tablets are to get firmware update to it. Here is our investigation for a list of devices, which will get the Android version either through an official or custom ROM. Check out the list below and see whether your favorite device is to get the update sooner.

Samsung Galaxy S3: The third generation of Samsung’s flagship Android series is largely awaited to get Android 4.2 update. The device has just been updated to the Android 4.1 JB from its original software the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. There is no report available about the device’s possible update to the new OS version. Now, after the release of Galaxy S4, the S3 fans are hopeful that Samsung wouldn’t delay firmware update longer.

ASUS Transformer Pad 300: There is an unconfirmed report that Asus has updated its premium Android tablet PC with the 4.2. The Taiwan tech firm has reportedly brought the update to the device through Over the Air. It is reported that units with the bootloaders unlocked can’t get the update. If so, you can restore your tablet to the factory settings and get the update using the company’s official ROM for 4.2 Jelly Bean.

Sony Xperia Z: This is one of the latest Android phones from the Japan firm. Apart from wealthy specs and innards, the Z has grabbed customer attention with its capability for submerging in water without any harm. Coming with Android 4.1 JB, it is to get firmware update quite soon, i.e. by the end of the month itself. But, as of now, if you are a hacker, you can use a CyanogenMod 10.1 (CM10.1) Jelly Bean custom ROM from XDA developer, FXP to add the second Jelly Bean flavor to the gadget.

Samsung Galaxy S2: The second edition Galaxy S phone is just getting the 4.1 update in some markets. But, through a CyanogenMod CM10.1 custom ROM, you can now update the device to the much-frenzied Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Of course, the CyanogenMod team is confident that the device will support all key features of the OS variant. That is, you can enjoy all major features of the 4.2 on the legacy Samsung flagship also.

AT&T Sony Xperia TL: AT&T has just announced that its popular Xperia TL handset will get update to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean right now. The firmware rollout will take place slowly and in various phases.  According to the carrier, the update will add a host of new features to the device including improved photography, data usage calculator, SMS and MMS notification display and more.

Google Nexus S: Google didn’t roll out the new Jelly Bean update to this Samsung-made phone, seemingly because of some hardware limits. You can now taste the flavor of the software on this device as well if you are up to crack it using a CyanogenMod 10.1 custom ROM. SlimROMs team has published a SlimBean 4.2.2 Build 1 ROM for the global model of Nexus S for updating it to Android 4.2.2, which its successor the Galaxy Nexus has already received sometime back.
