Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge Plus will pose tough challenge before iPhone 6S Plus: USA launch, shipping date revealed
Finally the best phablet has been shown to the world. And the sort of enthusiastic response that it has got is reason enough to believe that Korean tech giant has another winner at its disposal as far as smartphone market is concerned.
Samsung has showcased two of its best handsets including Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ in the Samsung Unpack 2015 event and I must admit both the handsets couldn’t have been crafted better.
While Samsung’s Galaxy Note 5 brings the best of the Galaxy Note 4, already among the best Android handsets in the market, it also takes the Note version to an altogether different level. Almost every reviewer has been silenced by the beautiful combination of great looks and impressive specification that Galaxy Note5 comes with.
I am sure Cupertino based Apple must be hoping its new phablet that the company is launching in September, iPhone 6S Plus, doesn’t face adverse consequences following the new Samsung phablet’s impressive launch.
Samsung bosses launched the two new handsets in a glitter event that the company called Samsung Unpack 2015.
Both the handsets come with almost similar specifications and features. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 each have a 5.7-inch display, but the S6 has smaller overall dimensions and a curved “dual edge” screen that separates a portion of the display for contacts or other content.
The company showcased other products too during the event. The Korean tech giant launched Samsung Pay service that it is all set to launch in South Korea on August 20 and in the United States on September 28. Later the service will be introduced in nations like Britain, Spain and China with partners to be named in each market. While releasing details about its latest product Samsung Pay, the company said that it can be used with magnetic stripe terminals and with those using updated NFC or “near field communication” contactless payments used by Apple Pay.
The company made it clear that the new phablets that comes loaded with Samsung Pay along with wireless charging will be launched for sale in the US and Canada on August 21.
As far as Galaxy Note5 specs is concerned, it is a combo of Note 4 and S6. Its display is superlative as the 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen has QHD resolution as before. Now the S Pen stylus has been revamped and it is now clickable. The phablet comes with 4GB of RAM, that makes it far faster than the previous version that came with 3GB RAM. Along with the Exynos 7420 chipset it will give an experience that we couldn’t have on other devices. As far as storage is concerned, it is based on the fast UFS 2.0 standard. But you don’t have expandable memory option. You only get two versions, 32 GB and 64 GB. This may be a big disappointment, but Sammy hopes you were among the lot that saved data on the cloud.
When it comes to camera, the phablet comes with almost the same camera that we have in Galaxy S6. It comes with 16MP snapper behind a wide f/1.9 aperture, plus optical image stabilization and auto real-time HDR. It can record 2160p video or livestream 1080p to YouTube. For selfies you get a 5MP sensor and an f/1.9 aperture. The handset comes with a juicy 3000mAH battery, but it is a downgrade compared to previous version.
