After a long wait and sort of mystery, Samsung Galaxy Grand has been revealed. Here we discuss its specs, features and price

Samsung Galaxy Grand has finally been revealed and will be available in shelves across the world. I am not sure if it is going to be a cheaper Galaxy Note 2 or a bigger sized Galaxy S2, a smart-phone that still sells in the market, but looks very old when compared to anything even Galaxy Note original offered.

But Galaxy Grand comes with mediocre specs fitted inside a huge 5 inch body. Is it a phablet? I am not sure, though its size looks huge almost like Note. The worst part of this smart-phone from Korean technology major is 5 inch screen that comes with 800 x 480 pixel. Compared to Samsung Galaxy Grand, Korean company’s top Android handset Note 2 comes with 720 x 1280 pixels density with 5.5 inches screen size. On the other hand Samsung Galaxy S2 came with 480 x 800 pixels for 4.3 inches screen size.  This clearly shows that someone who thought that the quality of display was an important aspect of a handset will never go for it.

Other rumoured specs for the Samsung Galaxy Grand include dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel camera besides of course 5 inch screen. Till two years ago, these specs were the market standard, but not anymore. On the other hand 800 x 480 pixels were good for 4.3 inch screen but certainly not for 5 inch display.

A report in Android Authority while talking about the latest Galaxy Grand says, “Calling the Grand a cheaper Note 2 would be an insult to the Note 2. This thing is more like a jumbo version of the two year old Galaxy S2, except that it looks like a Galaxy S3. Curiously, Samsung didn’t say who makes the processor inside the Grand, which leads us to believe that it uses a Qualcomm chipset. That’s usually what Samsung does”.

Nonetheless the handset may still attract many people who want to flaunt a cheaper Galaxy S3. So let’s wait as to what it turns out to be.
