The news has been met with disbelief among wrestling and sporting world. Many thought that he was indefatigable and will not leave for his heavenly journey so soon, while many others thought that it was just a rumor going viral on social networking sites.
But alas, none of the two opinions were true. Wrestling legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper is no more. Reports confirm that he died this past Thursday. The renowned wrestler whose original name was Roderick Toombs was 61.
The sort of fame and success that “Rowdy” Roddy Piper got was simply unprecedented. There is no denying the fact that wrestling world will never be able to forget him as he is known to be the first true great villain in professional wrestling, a role that earned him as much praise as it did criticism and made him truly unique among wrestling superstars.
Almost everyone in the wrestling world and even outside is mourning his death and they are calling it a huge loss for the entire wrestling world. In the meantime a report suggests that Ronda Rousey, who was given permission by Piper himself to use the nickname “Rowdy,” dedicated Saturday’s fight to the WWE Hall of Famer.
