Ronda Rousey vs Holy Homs rematch a certainty as Dana White praises Rousey
Ronda Rousey is the biggest name in the female MMA circles. There is no denying the fact that the sort of fan following she has got is not seen even in the case of some topnotch male fighters too.
She remained unbeaten for many years and people thought that she may remain unbeaten till her retirement. But in her last fight she suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Holly Holms in UFC 193, one of the best female boxers in the world who later turned to MMA.
The shockwaves of the defeat have yet to be absorbed by many of Ronda Rousey fans. Nonetheless Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) boss Dana White has come forward and said that despite losing the last fight to Holy Holm, Rousey remains the best MMA fighter in the world.
No one has least doubt that Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) was unquestionably the UFC’s biggest star when she entered her UFC women’s bantamweight championship fight with Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) in Australia. She appeared in TV shows, movies and was featured on nearly every major news outlet. Due to her big claims leading up to UFC 193, Rousey had to face criticism from several top figures, including her fellow fighters, celebrities and event U.S. Presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Her fans are worried about her and what she has been thinking. She had to undergo plastic surgery due to some beatings she received near her lips. Apart from a short Instagram post the day after the fight, Rousey has not made any public comments since the knockout loss to Holm. There was some concern that Rousey may leave the sport and pursue a lucrative acting career, but it seems that would not happen and instead she would attempt to reclaim her title.
In the meantime people have been demanding a rematch. But she hasn’t said a word. Nonetheless Dana White said that she will be given an opportunity to avenge the loss at the earliest. The timetable for a rematch is still not clear. Rousey revealed prior to UFC 193 that she desired a layoff from fighting to fulfill some personal obligations. Her targeted return date was UFC 200 in July, but White was non-committal about that date and said the timetable is entirely up to when Rowdy wants to compete.
