Review: Apple Watch launched in India starting at Rs 30k, more of a status symbol
Finally Cupertino based tech giant Apple has introduced its latest product in the Indian market. Apple Watch has arrived in the Indian market beginning today. But this is going to create a big hole in your pocket. The latest gizmo will cost you at least Rs 30,900. The highest will cost almost one and half million rupees.
For the last several months Apple fanboys have been awaiting the arrival of the impressive smart watch from Apple in the market. Now as the product has finally reached here, there is every probability that people will rush to get hold of the expensive gizmo, or at least have a look at it.
Right now three versions of the Watch have been launched in the Indian market and this include Apple Watch Sport, Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition â€“ and two sizes (38 mm and 42 mm). the Cupertino based tech giant has said that the device will be available in Gold, Rose Gold, Space Gray, Silver Anodized Aluminium, polished Silver or Space Black stainless steel and 18-Carat Rose Gold and Yellow Gold colour variants.
The gadgets are going to be more a symbol of your status rather than their usability. While the entry level Watch in Silver Aluminium Case and White Sport Band is priced Rs 30,900 for the 38mm it is Rs 34,900 for the 42mm respectively. The device adopting the 38mm and 42mm Stainless Steel Case with the White Sport Band is priced at Rs 48,900 and Rs 52,900.
If you thought that those were costly, you havenâ€™t come across costly versions as yet. The price goes up to Rs 95,900 along with the stainless steel Link Bracelet and Rs 60,900 in the Classic Buckle leather strap option in two colours. Recently-introduced red coloured sport band is another option.
Now hold your breath. You havenâ€™t come across the real costly gizmos. Apple Watch Edition (made in 18-Carat Rose gold casing) starts at Rs 8.2 lakh for the 38mm variant paired with the cheapest White Sport Band. In addition, the price of the 42mm version is at Rs 9,90,000, while the most expensive one in the series is priced at Rs 14.2 lakh.
There is no denying the fact that it is very impressive product and may be of some use for health and fitness enthusiasts. The Apple Watch comes with the Activity app that gives simple visual snapshot of your daily activity with three rings that measure active calories burned, brisk activity and how often you stand or take a break. Using the Workout app, it also provides detailed metrics required during workout sessions for activities like walking, running and cycling. It works with the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus as well as the latest iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 8.2 or later.
