Reservations the only way for Muslim uplift, say leaders

Reservations the only way for Muslim uplift, say leaders

JAIPUR (NVONEWS): If the Government wants to bring Muslims at par with other communities of India, then reservation is the most effective way. That was the message from the Muslim Reservation Conference in Vidyadhar stadium here. The speakers at the conference agreed that reservation should be provided in every field for the Muslims. As the Sachchar committee report had indicated, Muslims are even poorer than the Dalits.
This conference was organised by a collaborative effort of Mansoori Panchayat Sansthan, All India Milli Council, Federations of Muslim Organisations, Bazm-e-Adab, Muslim Forum, Manav Sewa Samiti, All India Muslim Teli Conference, Al Hind Pilgrims Helping Hand Association, Dalit Muslim Ekta Manch, Marwad Educational society and Maulana Azad Educational welfare Society.
Shafi Dehlavi, President of the Federation of Muslim Organisations said that though the Sachchar Committee report said that the condition of Muslims are very grave and that they need reservation, some state governments are arguing that the Muslims are actually neither poor nor backward. He said that there are no legal hurdles to reserving seats for Muslims but the communal biases of office holders is coming in the way of implementation of Sachchar committee recommendation. Shafi Dehlavi exhorted Muslims to be united, and to think above sectarian and caste so that they can forcefully put forward their demands.
Abdul Lateef, Convenor of the Conference and the president of Mansoori Panchayat Sanstha said that Muslims are backward in every walk of life. Political parties do not care for Muslims and considers them merely a vote bank.
Addressing his comments to the politicians he said that in every seminar and conference of Muslims politicians promises are made that they would fight for Muslims but these promises are forgotten after the event. Dalits, buddhists, Jains, and Sikhs have all got reservations as Hindus even though these communities do not consider themselves as Hindus. While for the Muslims the Government is not interested in giving reservation in job even after the Sachchar Committee has said that it should be done.
Shaukat Qureshi, secretary all India Milli Council said reservation is very important for Muslims and it should be provided in every field like jobs and education. Supporting the demand for Muslims reservation Radhe Shayam Godani, General Secretary, of Jat Mahasabha said that demanding your right under the constitution is not a sin. But communal politicians are denying Muslims their rights.
Condemning Mayawati’s attempt to woo Muslims, Qamre Alam said that If Mayawati wants to give reservation to Muslims she should start by doing so in Uttar Pradesh. By writing letters to the Prime Minister, even as she denies Muslims reservations in UP, she is simply playing politics.
Haji Nawabuddin of AlHind Pilgrims Helping Hand said that the model of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Bengal should be applied in all the states. These states have a separate quota for Muslim OBCs. All the speakers unanimously said that the Muslims should be given reservation according to their population and it should be from Panchayat to Parliament, and from School to the Administration and the ministry.
It was decided in the conference that a national convention of Muslim Organisations would be organized in Delhi very soon.
