Research Methodology Workshop held at JN Medical College

Aligarh: Aligarh Muslim University Pro Vice Chancellor, Brigadier S Ahmad Ali (retd) during the Valedictory Function of the Workshop on Research Methodology at Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College (JNMC) said that despite a whooping allocation of 1.2 GDP for research in India, none of Indian universities are in top 200 universities in the world.

Around 60 Faculty members participated in the recently concluded two-day workshop organized by JNMC’s Faculty of Medicine in collaboration with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)

Applauding AMU for academic excellence, Brigadier Ali pointed out that according to the Times Survey, AMU is ranked the third best in Indian universities. “The ranking of AMU is because of the fine research taking place in the University,” said Brigadier Ali.

Brigadier Ali added that research requires commitment and it should be innovative and original. “There is no dearth of government grants and AMU is utilizing the research funds in the right direction,” said Brigadier Ali who also urged that students should not be confined and be encouraged to become researchers.

Quoting Jawahar Lal Nehru on the establishment of AIIMS, the Chairman of Department of Surgery, AIIMS, Prof Anurag Shrivastav said that Nehru said in a Parliament speech that AIIMS will fulfill our dreams in teaching, research and patient care. He urged that there should be joint collaboration of AIIMS and JNMC in various research areas. He also urged JNMC administration to establish a Medical Epidemiological Unit.

Pointing out that it is a matter of pride that the University Administration is rewarding innovative ideas and research through ‘Innovative Council,’ the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Professor Amanullah Khan said that Knowledge should not only be acquired but also be created and disseminated.

After thanking the guests attending the Valedictory Function, JNMC Principal and CMS, Prof Tariq Mansoor said that whatever we gain as knowledge should be shared with our Post Graduate students.

AIIMS’s Department of Bio Statistics, Head of Department, Prof R M Pandey said that he is touched by the hospitality of JNMC. Assistant Prof, Department of Neurology in AIIMS, Dr Deepti Vibha was also invited as a resource person.

Dean Faculty of Medicine, Prof Shahjahan Bano, inaugurated the Workshop. During inauguration, she highlighted the academic activities being administered through Faculty of Medicine which included a recently concluded a workshop of Medical Education Technology.

Organizing Secretary, Dr Atia Zaka ur Rab welcomed resource persons and participants and delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Fatima Khan conducted the programme.
