Nahan: The state women commission gets the complaints of selling girls to neighboring states on several times but it never proved that girls were sold in any part of the country even in a single case. Interacting with NVO News the chairperson of Himachal state women commission Mrs. Ambika sood said generally such reports of selling of girls come through media reporting and Commission always takes the cognizance of such reports. She also informed that Commission as well as department of Police was alert on the issue and added that last complaint was reported from the transs giri area of the sirmaur district but Â after investigation some other reasons were pointed out. Mrs. Ambika sood was at Kala amb for taking part in the workshop on women empowerment in the campus of Himalayan group of professional institutions.
She informed that the commission had organized an awareness camp about six months back in transs giri area of the Â Sirmaur district in which more than 500 womenâ€™s had taken part but no complaint of girl selling was reported in the camp. Mrs. Sood also pointed out that there was no alarming situation in the state as far as the atrocities on women were concerned.
Mrs. Ambika sood also said that in couple of weeks the women of the state would be able to file their complaints through online system for quick disposal and further added that the headquarter of the commission would be connected with toll free number so that Â complaints could be file without any phone charges. Mrs. Ambika Sood also said that womenâ€™s should come forward to understand the meaning of women empowerment and added that the state government was committed for the upliftment of women in the state. Chairperson of the state women commission also added that more than 500 complaints of women atrocities were disposed off during the past two years. She said that it was happened first time in the state when Women commission started organized courts in the district headquarter for quick disposal off the complaints.
Earlier addressing the gathering in the workshop on women empowerment she said that the BJP government was came into power under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal on 31st December, 2007, Since than State have taken several steps for the upliftment of womenâ€™s in the state, even a record was set by giving the 50% reservation to women in PRIâ€™s and urban local bodies poll.
On the occasion former minister Shayama Sharma said that National Crime Bureau had reported in 1998 that till 2010 the crime against women would be more than the growth of population in India, which was an issue of concern. Chairman HGPI, Mr. Rajnish Bansal and Chairperson Municipal Council Mrs. Bharti Aggarwal also addressed the gathering.
