Aligarh: Patients with ‘Obstructive Jaundice’, ‘CBD’, ‘Stones’ and ‘Billary Cancers’ in Aligarh are no more spending huge amounts of money at New Delhi based super specialty hospitals as Professor Madad Ali, Department of Surgery, Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University has successfully performed at least 15 therapeutic Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) surgeries.

Prof Ali, who joined JNMC early this year, is an eminent consultant gastroenterologist from the United States of America. He is performing ERCP on a regular basis in the ‘Endoscopy Unit’ in the Department of Surgery.

“Earlier in the year, Prof Ali conducted the first therapeutic ERCP on a 65 year old female patient with Gall Bladder Stones and CBD stones,” said Prof Mohammad Habib Raza, Chairman, Department of Surgery.

He added that the patients who have been treated by Prof Ali are doing well without spending huge sums of money for their treatments.

Prof Ali, who was appointed as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Surgery earlier in the year has come back to work for four to six months period.

Prof Raza said that Prof Ali’s appointment will facilitate training of the consultants and residents in therapeutic ERCP and other advanced endoscopic procedures at the JNMC. He thanked the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt General Zameer Uddin Shah (retd) for granting the permission to appoint Prof Ali.
