Panasonic P51 launched with 5-inch display, quad core processor, Rs 27K price tag

This is a mid range handset but probably came at the wrong time. Panasonic P51 comes with 5-inch display, quad core processor, Rs 27K price tag

Panasonic seems to have zeroed in on India for its smart-phone growth plans. The company has also realised that mid-range handsets also have more chance to succeed than top of the line handsets that will have to be ultimately priced very high. The Japanese tech giant is launching its P51 smartphone with 5 inch display size in India with reasonable specifications and comparatively competitively priced.

But in my view, the P51 smartphone has been launched at the worst time by the Japanese company as another handset with a big name and good history behind it, Google has launched its flagship handset Nexus 4 for just Rs 25999, Rs 1000 lower than the P51 which comes for Rs 26999 with far better specifications and features. To be true there is no match between Panasonic P51 and Google’s Nexus 4 when it comes to features. Nexus 4 despite being six months old is still a high end handset, while Panasonic P51 is hardly even a midrange handset.

The latest Panasonic P51 handset comes with 5-inch screen powered by a Quad Core 1.2GHz processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). A top Panasonic official in India while making the announcement said, “India has always been one of our alpha markets in the region and we are confident that our product will provide Indian consumers a multimedia experience and a value-for-money proposition”.

As far as camera is concerned, the handset will come with 8 mega pixel rear camera and a VGA front facing camera for video chatting.
