Orientation program for PG students at Faculty of Medicine

Aligarh: The Faculty of Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University organized an orientation program for the newly admitted Post graduate students of 2015 at the JN Medical College, AMU.

The vice chancellor, AMU Lt Gen Zameer Uddin Shah, while presiding over the function welcomed the newcomers and expressed gratitude over the selection of external students on approximately 40% of the seats. He remarked that especially the external students should be made aware about the culture and traditions of the University. He said that the University is taking special care for the improvement and advancement of medical college as well as hospital. He ensured that teachers in the College are dedicated and have remarkable experience in imparting medical education and hoped that the students would take advantage of their experiences.

Professor Shahjahan Bano, Dean, Faculty of Medicine gave an overview of medical education being provided through the Faculty. She said that the teachers of medical college are well versed in medical education with some possessing special course and training from MCI nodal centres of medical education technology from Delhi, Dehradun and Ludhiana. She also highlighted some important points from MCI postgraduate teaching regulations 2000.

Professor Tariq Mansoor, Principal, JNMC stressed the students to maintain discipline and follow the rules and regulations prescribed by the University. He asked them to be aware of the culture and tradition of AMU along with the norms of Medical Profession. He urged the students not to indulge in any unlawful activity.

Professor SK Tiwari, Principal, Dr ZA Dental College pointed out that the College is providing best facilities and equipments for research and teaching and the teachers are always available for any help.

Professor Seema Hakim, Coordinator, Medical Education Unit (MEU) conducted the programme and briefed that approximately 152 PG students are attending the course. She thanked the members of MEU over the continuous and successful organization of the programme for the last 7 years.

During the inaugural programme Professor S Abrar Hasan, Professor H S Khan, Professor M U Rabbani, Professor Shahid Siddiqui, Professor SH Arif, Professor Mazhar Abbas, Professor Manazir Ali, Professor Sangeeta Singhal, Professor Tamkin Rabbani, Dr Syed Ziaur Rahman, Dr Shagufta Moin and Dr Abdul Waris were also present.
