Both are great handsets and users are loving both. Nokia Lumia 620 vs Huawei Ascend W1 comparison is natural, but in China W1 is cheaper
Huawei’s CES-demoed Ascend W1 Windows Phone 8 handset comes to China cheaper than Lumia 620. Giving a shock for Nokia, the Chinese tech maker has announced its only Windows Phone 8 device for a nice price of ¥1599 (around $260). It is ¥400 cheaper than the China model of Lumia 620, which is available for a price equal to $320. The 620 is Nokia’s cheapest WP 8 phone with Lumia 820 as the midrange and Lumia 920 as the flagship models.
Huawei has put an attractive price for the device with an aim to impress customers from Lumia 620. The company currently offers a ¥100 discount for the device. It also plans to ship the Windows Phone 8 device to other markets like the U.K. before the end of first quarter. On the other hand, rumor is spreading like wildfire that Huawei is likely to showcase a high-end Windows Phone 8 smartphone, the Ascend W2 at MWC 2013.
Huawei Ascend W1 Vs Nokia Lumia 620
Size & Display: In dimensions and weight, the Lumia and Ascend phones are almost identical devices. The Huawei phone has the dimensions of 124.5 x 63.7 x 10.5 mm and it weighs at 130 grams. It is when the Lumia 620 measures at 115.4 x 61.1 x 11 mm and it has a weight of 127 grams. In display screen, the former one has a bit larger 4-inch IPS LCD display and the latter has 3.8-inch TFT display.
Processor & Memory: The entrails that power up the Ascend W1 include a 1.2GHz dual core Krait (Qualcomm MSM8230 Snapdragon) processor, 512MB of RAM and a good Adreno 305 graphical processor. Further, it mounts 4GB of internal memory, plus microSD slot for 32GB external expansion. Meanwhile, the Nokia phone is up with a 1GHz dual core (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4) CPU, 512MB of RAM and the same Adreno 305 graphical processor. It has two times better internal memory and its microSD slot supports up to 64GB memory sticks.
Camera & Connectivity: The Nokia and Huawei phones sport the same 5MP rear cameras with autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging and 720p video recording capability. They also share VGA front cameras for video chat. When it comes to connectivity as well, the WP 8 phones offer options like GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and MicroUSB port.
Battery: For decent power backup, the W1 packs a Li-Po 1950mAh battery and the Lumia phone has a Li-Ion 1300 mAh battery. Both the phones will provide around 10 hours of battery backup.
Target Audience: As you can see, these handsets are simply meant for budget conscious customers. They are priced around $300 so that tight budget customers can also get a good Windows Phone 8 based device. Both the companies eye at the same customers for their products.
It is pointless to search for a winner in the comparison of Nokia Lumia 620 and Huawei Ascend W1. Both the handsets are almost equivalent in specs and features. In form factor, they do have a notable and interesting change, however. The Ascend W1 has a squarish form, while the 620 is slightly curved. Users will only be confused in choosing between the form factor. The innards and features of the WP 8 handsets are nearly equal.
Anyway, the Huawei phone has a clear edge over the Nokia phone, because of its attractive price. The Chinese firm is famous for developing budget handsets. Hence, it can sell its product for a price cheaper than the Lumia phone. Customers get a good chance to go more inexpensive in getting a Windows Phone 8 handset. So, the Huawei phone looks better than the phone from the Finnish firm.
