It is affordable and suits well for people looking forward to mid-range smart-phone. Nokia Lumia 620 specs and features make it look like an excellent Windows Phone 8 handset

Nokia, once world leader in smartphones, is now struggling to regain its lost glory. In this endeavor, the company has tied up with Microsoft and brought out the Lumia range of smartphones. Lumia 620 is the latest in the series. Nokia Lumia series runs on Windows Phone 8 OS. With the excellent response to WP8 handsets including Nokia Lumia 920, the scene will hopefully get better for Nokia.

Nokia seems to have got an intelligent mix of features and made significant improvements over its previous models. While the Windows marketplace is still not as popular as iOS or Android, but the Windows Phone 8 OS is surely catching up in terms of apps. Now Nokia has to use its marketing prowess to establish the model as a better buy than its nearest competitor HTC Windows Phone 8S, which will also be retailing in the same price bracket of Rs. 20,000.

The Lumia 620 runs the latest update of Windows Phone firmware, Windows Phone 8, which will make all the latest and forthcoming updates to be accessible on this version. Lumia 620 supports quad-band GSM and 3G networks which will enable seamless 3G connectivity, though LTE is missing in the network feature list.

The screen will have the traditional Nokia ClearBlack display with a 3.8 inches WVGA resolution, which helps in easy visibility even in sunlight. The pixel count of 620 is amongst the highest in the price range. The phone is a lightweight mass of technology at 127 g with rounded edges and curved body which makes it easy to hold and carry. The phone also features a dual-band WiFi, which is the only handset with this feature, providing faster wireless band.

The phone derives its power from MSM8227 SoC from Qualcomm, from the Snapdragon S4 line with two Krait CPU cores at 1GHz each. This is one of the few phones to support expandable memory upto 64GB with a microSD card. NFC technology is also present on the phone which will make transfers between two NFC-enabled devices easier and faster.  The camera has a 5 MP sensor with a large aperture and wide lens, and a narrow aperture of f/2.8. But the phone lacks the usual Carl-Zeiss optics found in other Nokia smartphones. The phone also has a 0.3 MP front facing camera. Another set of hardware features include accelerometer, proximity sensor and compass and a GPS.

Nokia Lumia 620 can surely play a crucial role to help the company’s sagging sales, and with some neat specifications and a right price point, this has all the showings of a bestseller. Though users with an app-intensive appetite still don’t hold much value for Windows Phone platform and nearly overlook the devices running on them. But Microsoft has geared itself up to heat up the battlefield for the apps, bringing in developers and testers to increase in traction in the smartphone market, and the effort is shaping up nicely, which coupled with exciting smartphones variety and attractive pricing will surely help bring back the good ol’ days for both the companies.
